Mindrop Is Now in Closed Testing (Android)

February 19, 2026productdev

After building and using Mindrop daily to solve my own “don’t forget this” problem, it’s time to put it in other hands.

Mindrop is now live in a closed test on Google Play, running until March 31, 2026.

This is the first public step. It’s not a marketing launch. It’s a real-world test. The goal is simple: find out if this tiny inbox that works for me also works for other distracted minds.

What Mindrop Is (Right Now)

Mindrop is a lightweight note app built around one idea:

Capture first. Organize later.

  • Fast capture
  • Optional prefixes like idea:, remind:, medication:
  • Simple inbox list
  • Search + filter by prefix
  • Local-first, minimal friction

No dashboards. No heavy systems. Just a place to drop thoughts quickly and find them again when they matter.

Why a Closed Test?

Because small tools get better through real usage, not assumptions.

A closed test lets me:

  • Collect focused feedback
  • Fix real-world issues
  • Improve the capture flow
  • Validate whether prefixes + search feel natural
  • Polish performance across devices

If something feels slow, confusing, unnecessary, or “one tap too many,” I want to know.

How to Join the Closed Test (Android Only)

Mindrop is currently Android-only.

To join:

1️⃣ Join the Google Group

You must first join the closed testing group:

Use the same Google account you use on your Android device.

2️⃣ Download the App

Once you’ve joined the group, download Mindrop from Google Play:

If the Play Store doesn’t show the install button immediately, give it a few minutes and refresh.

That’s it.

What I’m Looking For

This phase is about clarity and usefulness, not feature requests.

Specifically:

  • Does capture feel fast enough?
  • Do prefixes help or get in the way?
  • Can you find notes again easily?
  • Does the app feel lightweight or heavy?

Honest feedback > polite feedback.

What Happens After March 31?

After the closed test ends:

  • I’ll review feedback
  • Fix issues
  • Improve UX where needed
  • Prepare for a wider release

This is version 0.1.0 — small, focused, intentional.

If you decide to test it — thank you.
You’re helping shape something that started as a personal tool into something that might help more minds stay clear.
